I’m almost three years into my company and I’m finally starting over.

I say finally, because I should have done it 3 years ago. Shouldn’t have started the company if it wasn’t exactly what I wanted it to be.

I’m sending cancellation notices, I’m issuing refunds, I’m crying and stressing a little, I’m writing/living/existing/speaking/loving from the heart and I’m totally and completely ready for the next chapter.

The true chapter.

The chapter I’ve wanted since I was sitting in my tiny one-bedroom apartment three years ago, newly separated (which was a secret from everyone); having just filed the paperwork for my business — the business I’ve wanted since elementary school.

The chapter I’ve been too afraid the open. Afraid to embark on.

Fear is a nasty, nasty thing. It can keep you in bondage and it will keep you in bondage for as long as you let it.

So don’t let it.

Don’t let it.

Which is why I’m starting over.

An amazing peer said to me recently: “My anything for money tour is over.”

And I couldn’t help but think: “Is this me? Is that what I’m doing? Anything for money…”

Just because I can do something and I can do it well, does that mean I should?

Just because people want to pay me to work a craft I’ve been honing for so long, does that mean I should continue to do that work? Especially if it leaves me feeling drained, uninspired, unfulfilled and mentally cluttered…

This is why I’m starting over:

Because I want more of what I want and less of what I don’t.

I unapologetically choose fulfillment.

Plain and simple.

Is that selfish or lazy or egotistical?

*shrug*

It is what it is and this is why I’m starting over.

I’m starting over for me.
